The late Archie Roach called Nancy Bates one of the country's finest voices, after years touring as his guitarist. The Barkindji singer now performs with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and teaches songwriting inside Adelaide Women's Prison, work the documentary Songs Inside followed.
